Word Well Edits is led by Mai Graves, a professional editor, ghostwriter, and editorial leader with a Master’s degree in Editing and more than ten years of experience working across fiction and nonfiction.
Mai began her career as a freelance ghostwriter before moving into professional editing and eventually editorial leadership. Over the years, she has worked on thousands of books and other writing projects, collaborating with authors across genres and at different stages of their publishing journeys.
Her experience spans developmental editing, story structure, pacing, and helping authors strengthen the overall flow of a manuscript. While much of her recent work has focused on business, self-help, and long-form nonfiction, she has also worked extensively with genre fiction, including science fiction, young adult, and fantasy.
That experience shaped one of the central principles behind Word Well Edits: Every book deserves thoughtful attention, honest feedback, and an editor who understands that there is a person behind every page.

Our complete developmental-plus-copyediting package is $0.05 per word, while individual developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading rounds are $0.03 per word. We also offer $50 sample edits and beta reading at $150 per 50,000 words.
